telephone booths

i like phone booths.  they have a such a curious existence, are designed for moments of privacy, exist in the middle of public space. are representative of our connection to others, the same way cell phones currently fulfill that role, but unlike cell phones, phone booths offer a shelter, an enclosed setting, a rarefied space in which we may conduct our conversation. soon, they won't exist.

i painted this one, in lascelles quebec, and a week later it was ripped up out of the ground and hauled away to telephone booth graveyard.

this painting hangs in the general store of lascelles quebec...mere meters from where the actual phone booth existed once upon a time.
