chasing light

the light in the winter changes briskly. the sun is up, hangs in the sky, barely clears the tree tops, goes back down. then darkness.  on this day i saw a glimpse of light sparkling through the trees that made the snow lemon yellow and the shadows ultramarine. i had just come out of the shower, saw the light through the window in my kitchen, just had to capture it, didn't have time to put on painting clothes. painting outside in the winter is demanding, sometimes a little frostbite is a side effect.
