on christmas day,  the smartest man in the world created and paid for an ad on the back page of the travel section in the saturday edition of the new york times.  his ad consisted of a painting he made of an apple, a bite chomped out of it, a worm coming out of the middle where the seeds are, the worm in the shape of a dollar sign. the caption under the painting read: this story has no beginning, only an ending.

on the next day, in the sunday edition,  the entire newspaper consisted only of printed letters from people around the world - letters of resignation, letters of love, letters of confession.
